A Hale and Hearty Holiday How-do-you-do to you and yours! It’s been a wild year for us at Whiskey Jim and Honey’s All American Circus and we want to catch you up on some of the exciting things that have happened to us this past year.
For those of you who are new, here’s a little explanation of who we are and what we do. Whiskey Jim and Honey’s All American Circus featuring Hank and Howdy, two tired little cowdogs has been in operation for a couple of years. Our mission statement: We make stuff up. One hot, slow summer, an idle kindergarten teacher was laying on the couch under the ceiling fan feeling sorry for herself, so she started making up and writing about an alternate life, naming herself Honey. It seemed healthier than upping her meds. Realizing that some people have personal boundaries and might not like their lives mocked, the names of the characters have been changed so Honey could write whatever she wanted and claim that it was all based on fictional characters. Her husband became Whiskey Jim and her dogs became Hank and Howdy.
2014 All American Circus Update: Hank and Howdy, our very own two tired little cowdogs, are doing well; just a little older and a lot sassier. Highlights of their busy schedule included going to camp this past summer and making lanyards after having dieted enough to lose a few pounds and earn the new bike shorts they chose as their reward for a job well done. We’re proud of them, of course, but we wish they’d settle down - maybe get married or at least start showing an interest in something beside their work. It’s like they’re canine workaholics. A dog needs to have a little fun now and then, right? Ultimately it’s up to them to make time for themselves. We can only suggest.
Honey travels everywhere scouting sites for future shows. Whiskey Jim continues to be the muscle behind the operation, exhibiting quiet patience for the Honey and “the boys”.
Now that you’re up to speed let’s start with the exciting activities in our nonfictional lives.
-Jamie is doing pretty much the same thing to bankroll our circus as last year. Teaching kindergarten. Same thing.
-Kathryn is also teaching kindergarten. Every day.
-The kids are all fine. Sean, Lucas and NIck are all healthy, happy and the funniest people we know.
The big event in our nonfictional lives was Nick finally landing himself a girl – and she is a doozy! She has brains, looks, and patience for all things Nick. She seems to like us the way we are and we’re better people for that. NickandRachel got married March 15th in Austin, Texas. It was a wonderful wedding with vows, music, dancing into the night, family and friends from all over, and of course, love enough to light up the big Texas sky. The DJ had such a good time that he thanked us all for letting him be at our party. He even mentioned how fun our wedding was on the radio the next day. The bride and groom were gracious and gorgeous. Both sets of parents were so proud. It was perfect.
Looking back on this year, life brought us many opportunities to learn a little bit more about ourselves – how brave and strong we can be, that we can stumble and then pick ourselves right up, what it means to others and ourselves when we are fully present in our relationships. For this and so many other things, we are thankful.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
